OPTIMISING CONCRETE’S MICROSTRUCTURE WITH ANTIPOR®

That's step number 1

Concrete is, seen under magnification, porous. In between aggregates and cement paste, there is a network of tiny air pores and capillaries.
This is where destructive processes usually begin. Using this pore and capillary structure, water, chlorides and other harmful water-borne chemicals penetrate the concrete, expand and create pressure and thus eventually break the concrete, or deteriorate it through acidic reactions.

Therefore, creating a denser, more impervious microstructure is the first step in order to protect concrete. Additions to the concrete mix, e.g. plasticisers out of our ANTIPOR®-line, densify and minimise pores and capillaries.
